I was overzealous in the post-snow wash and shot water up through the bumper into my tail light. Currently baking it out at ca. 200 F

Got any spare packets of silica gel desiccant laying around?

My car was a little sluggish after washing the engine bay, so when I returned home, I went over it again with the air compressor. I paid special attention to the distributor cap and slid a packet under it while it sat overnight. The next morning I removed the packet and everything was back to normal.

If you can’t get a packet inside the lamp housing, you could put the housing and the desiccant in a sealed container for a while.

Welp, so much for that method. The lens warped, and then cracked when I tried to reshape it. No more Rambo car wash!

Damn sorry to hear it cracked, next time place the item in a bag with a packet or box of damp rid it'll pull all the moisture out. Just don't leave the item too long as it'll pull the moisture out of any rubber seals over time.

That’s not Bakelite, this is Bakelite:

Kinja'd!!!

Fun fact: The actual chemical name for Bakelite is so comically long that it looks like a joke.
